Music is a Wonderful Thing

Music is a funny and wonderful thing. I was just searching for some songs on the interweb to place on my FaceBk wall and came across Daughtry singing Feels Like the First Time by Foreigner and the next thing I know, I'm on a beach in Galvaston, TX around my 8th birthday. Reliving the moments as if they were yesterday. Now I know that this song wasn't released until the year after my 8th but my mind went straight from that song to Cold as Ice which was the song that played the most that summer. I remember staying with my Uncle and eating at this burger joint down the road every day. Those have been the second best burgers I've eaten in my lifetime with the first being one of the original Whopper restaurants down in College Station also in the big state of Texas. Anyway back to the southern end of Texas, the beaches were white sand and deep so somehow it was never hot on the soles of the feet. It was also the first time I had ever fed seagulls and hated the fact that we ran out of bread to throw. It was neat to watch them snatch it out of the air and then have a couple of them fight over the bread in mid-air combat. I also remember getting stung by something in the ocean which I didn't realize until I got back home. That was also the same time my Uncle Danny and Cousin Jack took me a couple miles out in the ocean and then left me there to paddle back. Took me an hour at least trying to fight the tide but I made. I think the only thing that kept me going is the darkness of the ocean and not knowing what could be lurking underneath. My main thought through that whole ordeal was, "I'm going to get stung by a jellyfish and then a shark is going to eat me while I'm still alive but not able to move because of the venom pumped through me by the sting. Like I said, Music is a wonderful thing!
Ain't it good to be G!
